The event helps give students a taste of an interview process with local companies, share their post-16 options such as going to college, sixth form, or an apprenticeship and discuss what career it may lead to in the future.
Valda’s HR Advisor, Amy Goodman and Billing and Settlement Manager, Manny Dhaliwal supported with mock interviewing several students, asking questions about skills, motivations, aspirations, self-awareness and their own work experiences. With their experience, students received useful feedback for interviews and helped identify the learning and/or career paths they potentially could explore in the future.
Amy Goodman shared her thoughts on Destination Day:
“It was a great experience helping simulate a realistic interview scenario with students who may have not experienced it yet, providing them with valuable firsthand experience to prepare for the future. It was also very heartwarming to hear about their post-GCSE aspirations and I wish them all the best in achieving their goals.
Seeing the significant impact of mock interviews, I am delighted that both Manny and I could help contribute and be a part of the success story for the upcoming workforce generation."
Many thanks to The Marlborough C of E School and their amazing students for letting us help support their pursuit of further learning and future career opportunities.
On 14 March, Valda Energy will be heading back to Marlborough School to take part in its 2024 apprenticeship fair, showcasing apprenticeship offerings to students in Years 10, 11, 12, and 13 to eight West Oxfordshire schools.
