The role.

We are seeking a Regulatory Reporting Analyst to join our Pricing and Regulatory Data team, within the Commercial function. The successful candidate will work closely with our Regulatory and Compliance Officer to ensure that key regulatory and compliance reporting requirements are met, as well as provide valuable support with core pricing functions and wider business reporting. This will be through a combination of MySQL, Power BI and Excel, for which ongoing training and support will be provided.

The role requires a diligent and analytically minded individual with a keen attention to detail to carry out core, business-critical tasks covering a variety of areas. The reporting responsibilities will be a mixture of regular tasks and ad-hoc analysis, enabling a great deal of exposure to several of the company’s operational, pricing and reporting functions.

How you will contribute.
  • Maintaining, enhancing and creating reports using a combination of MySQL, Power BI, Excel and R as appropriate, to meet external regulatory requirements, and to maintain and improve data integrity internally across the business.
  • Taking ownership of running regular reports, ensuring the outputs are accurate and representative, and external deadlines are met.
  • Carrying out insightful ad-hoc analysis with the use of Excel, MySQL, Power BI and other tools as appropriate.
  • Ensuring effective communication and collaboration across a variety of business functions.
  • Challenging the ‘status quo’ to ensure that both data-gathering and reporting practices are both accurate and efficient.
 
About you.

The role requires a driven and analytically minded individual with a keen attention to detail, to carry out business-critical tasks covering a variety of different areas. The successful candidate will gain a great deal of exposure to the company’s reporting, pricing and hedging functions.

The role would ideally suit an individual with at least two years’ experience in an analytical role. Experience of the energy industry would be beneficial but is not required, and on-the-job training will be provided.

Requirement Essential Desirable
Education and qualifications
  • Minimum 2:1 at degree level or equivalent
  • Minimum B in A-Level Mathematics or similar subject or equivalent
  • Degree in a STEM subject
Experience and knowledge
  • Experience of Excel and at least one programming language such as SQL or R
  • At least two years’ experience in an analytical role 
  • Experience of SQL, Power BI, and R
Skills and abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Naturally inquisitive
  • Ability to interrogate data to provide insight
  • Ability and desire to get into the detail and understand the intricacies of a database and the nuances of any analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident explaining complex ideas
  • A team player, keen to share knowledge and skills with others
  • Desire to learn about the energy industry
